| Our classroom is Yelapa, a small fishing village on the Pacific coast of Mexico about 45 minutes southwest of Puerta Vallarta. Yelapa sits on the Bay of Banderas, at the edge of a rugged jungle teeming with tropical flora and fauna. Accessible only by boat, Yelapa has no commercial roads or cars within the village. There are only meandering walking and hiking trails that weave Yelapa together. |

Coconut palms, beautiful flowering trees and vines along with flocks of exotic birds that include: parrots, macaws, pelicans, and the blue footed boobie an aquatic bird found on the Marietas Islands grace Yelapas relaxed and easy rhythms.
A variety of native plants and herbs are abundant, many are used by the local healers of this community.
It is common to see dolphins and whales swimming in the Bay of Banderas.
